Another Comedy Website... You Having a Laugh!

Des McLean 1

Comedy websites seem to be a bit like busses. You wait ages for one then two come along at once!

Ok, we admit that's not very funny, but we like to leave the comedy to the professionals while we take care of the design. Hot on the heels of the launch of the new Glasgow Comedy Festival website by JamHot, we've just completed the design and development of a new website for Glasgow comedian Des McLean.

Des has been a budy chap over the last few years - completing a tour of New Zealand, playing to a sell out audience of over 2,000 people in Glasgow, having a stint at TV presenting on The Hour and somehow also finding time to win a Sony Award for his radio presenting work.

Great Success

Great Success

What a start to the year it's been so far. We've been winning lots of new projects recently and that makes us really happy. One of the ones we're pretty proud of is our appointment to the graphic design roster for Glasgow City Council following a huge pitching process! The next two years will see us getting to sink our teeth in to briefs for Glasgow's arts, venues and attractions and services for young people. All areas that we at JamHot are massively passionate about. It's nice. We like!

Inspiration for 2012

At JamHot HQ, as well as being inspired by design, words, technoogy and new ideas, we're also massively inspired by people who manage to set up and run successful businesses. It's a tricky thing to do as we've learned over the last four years.

One of the many companies that inspires us is Innocent Drinks. Three best mates set up the company just over 10 years ago with a mission to produce fruit smoothies and enjoy working together as friends. Their passion, vision and their distinct way of doing things has allowed them to live their dream and last year they turned over a whopping £175 million.

However, it's not their turnover that impresses us, it's the passion they have for their business, their love for the product, the way they run their business and the fact that they are driven by a higher purpose than just making money. If you've not heard much about the innocent story then check out their book or the clip below with some chat from one of their founders Richard Reed.

A bit like innocent, JamHot was set up and is run by two best mates who wanted to take control of their future, do something different and enjoy what we do every day. At our core is not the desire to make as much money as we possibly can - but to make a real positive difference to our lives and those of people who work with us, by working on projects that excite us, with people we like and with the mission of producing outstanding work for our clients. Obviousy we need to make money, as otherwise we'd be a pretty rubbish business and we wouldn't be here for long - but like Innocent we find being driven by a higher passion and dedication to more than money has allowed us to work with some amazing people and companies since starting up in business four years ago.

As we enter out 5th year in business we're delighted at what we've managed to achieve in the time we've been around. But we're not really the type of people who like looking back too much - we're more interested in the future and the exciting things that holds. In spite of all the negative news about the economy and all the doom and gloom in the news - we're looking forward to ignoring all the negativity and working to create better work than ever for our current clients and starting adventures with new ones. We're constantly working to get even better at the things we do, big ideas, design, words and technology - all while sticking to the things that we value as a company - creativity, hard work, integrity, enthusiasm, fun and friendship.

Here's to the rest of 2012. We're planning on having a good one and we hope you are too!

Blasting : Sonos System

At JamHot HQ we're massive music fans. With huge collections and avid users of spotify, last FM, iTunes and internet radio when we say this baby we were very very excited:

sonos

Now pride of place in the studio our awesome Sonos system allows us to pool all the music from our computers and on-line services and create plalists through the iPhone and iPad controller. One of the best pieces of kit we can come across in a very long time and we can't recommend it highly enough. If you love music you will definately love this!
